How we started
Founder of My Ten Days, Anita Brightley-Hodges, runs an award-winning design agency, 'still waters run deep' and to celebrate their 20 years in business decided to launch a charity. Anita knows that many small businesses struggle to make a serious contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility but thought that together, they could make a significant impact.
And so My Ten Days was born, an initiative to encourage owner/managers of SMEs to give ten days extra paid leave to one member of staff in order to do something worthwhile either in the UK or overseas.
"2009 saw me and Amalia walk the 10 day trek along the Great Wall of China for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Anna and Angela split 10 days between them to work locally at White Lodge Centre and Chislehurst Active Age Centre and the year before, Simon helped to build a school in Uganda. It has been a year of really motivated people doing incredible things to raise funds and volunteer just to help make life a little easier for others less fortunate." - Anita Brightley-Hodges, Founder of My Ten Days
